In June 2024 the Rosin Octet will premiere a new interdisciplinary project at the Delft Fringe Festival. Their performance will be of the string octet “Letter from an Unknown Woman” by Airat Ichmouratov, a piece based on the novel of the same name by Stefan Zweig. To further immerse the listener in the musical interpretation of the tragic and emotional story by Zweig, the octet has worked with a visual artist to add another dimension to the performance. Composer and artist Isabella Calmet has created a series of animations representing her own interpretation of Zweig’s novel, as well as the music by Ichmouratov. The animations will be projected on a curtain with the musicians behind, intertwining the two dimensions of the performance as closely as possible, as the artists hope to unite audiences of visual art and music and aid the listeners to explore new art forms and artists.
